Weight Loss or Fitness Goals? Set Yourself Up for Success in 2023!

New Year’s diet resolutions are a recipe for failure for so many reasons. Diets can and often are about deprivation instead of lifestyle. They can be punitive and extraordinarily painful. That’s the bad news. Now for the good news and the very best way to kickoff a New Year’s non-resolution! Being our best is not about our waste size or whether or not we fit into this skinny jeans gathering dust in our closets. Being our best is about treating our bodies with love and respect, it’s about improving our health and showing up for ourselves. That is a lifestyle that includes a wide variety of foods, enjoy the treats that we love and moving our bodies as consistently as we can. Having a support system and a system in place is a recipe for longterm success translating into good habits and your skinny jeans or a new look depending on what is important to you.

Here are our top three lifestyle tips to help you be your best you.

1. Embrace the Fat!

Not your ‘fat’ THE fat. Your immune system loves and burns fats and there a lot of delicious options that support your immune system, feed your skin to glowing and help you feel satiated which translates to eating less and benefiting more. The consumption of good fats from foods like avocado, olive oil, fatty fish, grassfed beef, and nuts are easy to work into meals and speaking of meals, meal planning is one of the very best ways to maintain a healthy diet as well as save time and money. 2. Sleep is Essential

Sleep for 7-9 hours every single night. Did you know that if you are getting less than 7 hours of sleep each nite your risk of obesity increases by 23%? If you experience difficulty sleeping here are a few tips and tricks:

  • Exercise early in the day or do something less cardio pumping like yoga if you are a later gym person.

  • Essential oils in a diffuser like lavender helps to reduce anxiety and promote calm.

  • Environment: Dark out shades, comfortable temperatures and quiet or calming background music.

  • Consistent bedtimes.

  • Avoid caffeine and/or add chamomile tea to your bedtime routine.

3. Move More

Add exercise as a part of your daily routine. That can be one of our fitness classes or even taking a mental health walk. Exercise is a mind, body and soul feeder. Joining a fitness class helps to create a routine with a supportive community of like-minded people. Create opprotunities to move more like taking the parking spot furthest from your destination, choose to walk instead of drive whenever possible. The little things, those steps add up to improved health and overall well-being; AND living in the sunshine state also has an additional bonus of extra vitamin D bonus mood enhancing effects.
