People go into a new fitness routine with a huge sense of enthusiasm and excitement, but as the time goes on the novelty wears off, and so does the work rate. Good News: We’ve put together the ABCs of starting - and sticking - to a plan to reach your fitness and weight loss goals!
Get on track with the ABCs (and D, E, F, G & H!) of FITNESS:
Accountability is one of the three pillars of our program here at LunaFit, along with fitness and nutrition. We recognize that it is a key ingredient in reaching your health, weight loss, and fitness goals. Accountability is radical ownership of our actions and our journey. Our fitness coaches are here to help you do that, to guide, support, and push you to stay on track longterm - and to get back on the path when you fall off. Accountability is the key to discipline, and sticks with you on the days when motivation is nowhere to be found.
This one can mean a few different things when it comes to pursuing your health and fitness goals. Balanced diet, balance between going hard at your workouts and getting adequate rest and recovery, balance between cardiovascular exercise and weight training. It can also refer to physical balance - and the important of incorporating more than just straight cardio and weights into your routine. Stretching, agility and mobility exercises, and strengthening your core are all ways to improve your balance physically, and to balance your overall exercise regimen.
“Success does not come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently.” Fitness and nutrition habits are a prime example of this. Consistency leads to long term change and results - and all that benefits that come with that, from reaching our weight loss and fitness goals to improved confidence, energy, and health.
They say abs are made in the kitchen - even if a 6 pack isn’t your goal, your weight and health are going to benefit from eating more real food, and cutting back on the junk! The key to our nutrition program, which is available via virtual nutrition coaching as well as in person at our Altamonte Springs gym, is prioritizing balanced nutrition. Less processed, sugary junk. More lean meats, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables. No fad diets. Yes sustainable plans and change.
Recognize that exercise is not a punishment, but rather, is a gift to yourself! It is a way to bring out the best in yourself - mind, body, spirit, and health, wellness, and weight! The keys to exercise are proper form and technique, targeting each major area including muscle groups and types of fitness (cardio, weights, mobility, etc.), mixing things up to avoid plateaus, feeling the burn, and having as much fun as you can while doing it! We recommend Group Fitness Classes, but more about that later. ;)
Did you know that fitness can be fun? At least it can at LunaFit! Fact: Many of our members have had so much FUN on their journey, that they have found themselves with lasting friendships and bonds in addition to achieving their goals. Our LunaFit community has so much fun that we often get together outside of our group fitness classes and enjoy team outings like beach/spring days, savage races, bike trips, and more! We pride ourselves on being more than just a gym; we are a community dedicated to bringing people together and helping them make lasting life changes that better their lives in every way!
Group Fitness Classes
It’s been found that people who work out with a partner or in a group are more likely to stay committed to their fitness goals long term. In addition to pushing you more, it offers camaraderie, support, and that other vital ingredient: ACCOUNTABILITY! Plus — energy is infectious, and by surrounding yourself with positive people with similar goals you further set yourself up for success. At LunaFit, we offer a range of fun, high intensity group fitness classes that combine strength, endurance, and cardiovascular training for a full body workout that gets results!
In addition to dance classes and other offerings, our main group fitness class is HIIT, which stands for High Intensity Interval Training.
HIIT involves alternating short bursts of intense exercise with low-intensity recovery periods. Research suggests it is the most time-efficient way to exercise. In addition to building muscle, burning calories, and losing weight, HIIT can also help improve oxygen and blood, and may help lower blood pressure and blood sugar. Come experience the benefits - and the fun - for yourself at one of our HIIT Fitness Classes! PLUS get a FREE week of classes when you
