LunaFit's Top 5 Tips to Lose Weight & Make 2020 YOUR Year #NewYearsResolutions

It’s the beginning of a brand new year, and you know what that means: it’s New Year’s resolution time! What do you resolve to do for yourself this year? Did you know that weight loss goals are among the most common New Year’s resolutions? 

In addition to losing weight, other common goals and resolutions include:

  • Sleep Better

  •  Exercise More

  • Eat Healthier

  • Manage Stress

  • Quit Tobacco

The unfortunate reality is that most people don’t stay on track with their goals for long. Most of our New Year’s resolutions are stuck on repeats from the previous year, as the majority of people don’t make it past the first few weeks or months of pursuing a new goal. Statistics show that’s the norm, as we tend to forget, become distracted, lose motivation, or simply lack the knowledge and support needed to stay on track. 

So how do we overcome that, and make this the year we finally achieve our goals?


Accountability is the key to getting back on up when you fall. It is the main ingredient for success - to consistently reaching for your goals, to pushing though the times that you feel like quitting. It’s the spark that reignites your discipline and motivation, and keeps you on the path long term.

  1. Nutrition- Eat more real food! More solid nutrients, less processed, sugary junk. Say yes to lean meats, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables – and say yes to living your life at a healthy weight!

  2. Vision Board – Set aside some time to create a visual representation of your goals and motivation – include inspiring images, quotes, goals, and gratitude. Be realistic and specific about your resolutions, and break them down into actionable steps. 

  3. Find Your Why- Really dig deep and reflect on why your goals are so important to you. Consider how will they change your life, and how you will feel once you achieve them. 

  4. Mindfulness- Eat mindfully, move mindfully, live mindfully. Put your phone down, turn off the TV, and be more present – especially when you eat!

  5. Fitness- Did you know that people who work out with a partner or group are more likely to stay committed to their goals? Besides pushing you more - cheers to that competitive streak within us all – it offers comradery, support, and ACCOUNTABILITY. Recognize that exercise is not a punishment, but a gift to yourself - a way to reinvigorate your life, bring out the best in yourself, and have some fun along the way. Commit yourself to 3-4 days a week of consistent group fitness classes at LunaFit - and make some new friends while you move forward towards reaching your goals!
